Ukrainians have long believed in the supernatural, from which they drew hope and strength. Our myths are unique in their essence: they are generated by nature and permeated with pantheism (from the Greek pan - everything, and theos - God) - a philosophical and religious teaching according to which God is identified with nature. They are about the adoration of all the phenomena of nature, heavenly luminaries, trees, rivers: they illustrate the desire of man to explain, to organise the world around him, to reveal the unity of man and nature.
